Call for papers / Send your paper

We would be delighted to have you as a speaker at this year's Software Crafters Barcelona event. Please note that while this is a call for papers and we use the term "speaker" loosely, our conference includes a variety of formats, such as talks, open space sessions and dojos.

Although attendees value talks, we welcome all types of sessions. We have found that speakers who allow time for interruptions and debate often receive great feedback, rather than delivering an exhaustive review of a prepared slide deck.

Also consider checking our Code of conduct before proceding.

Subjects

There is no central topic for SCBCN'24, so you have complete freedom to choose the subject of your session. If you need ideas, we have published past sessions on our YouTube and Autentia channels, and we can provide feedback based on what attendees value. Here are some tips to help you craft a great session:

  • - Prioritize general topics over specific tools/languages.
  • - Talks have 55-minute slots. Allocate time for debate and discussion.
  • - Last year we introduced lightning talks, which are 5-7 minute talks followed by 3 minutes for questions.
  • - Consider creating entry-level sessions, as there are always apprentices.
  • - Hands-on sessions are very popular.
  • - We invite first-time speakers to use SCBCN as a "sandbox." There will be slots reserved for first-timers, so don't be afraid to speak at a tech event.
  • - If you are interested in a particular topic but not prepared to host a session, consider proposing it during the Open Space that takes place during the event.
  • - Talks can have a maximum of 2 speakers.

We understand that not everybody has the same background talking in public but our goal is make it as smooth as possible for you. If you are unsure about how to organize your contents or you feel a bit uneasy in a stage, our team is here to give you a hand.

Important details

We hope you will consider submitting a proposal and sharing your expertise with the SCBCN community. If you decide to do it, please send your proposal using this form before June 1th 2024. The conference schedule will be published on September 1st and we plan to inform the speakers before that date.
